Frequently Asked Questions

Kundalini Yoga Related Questions

What is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini yoga is a dynamic form of yoga that combines movement, breathwork, meditation, and sound (mantra) to support physical vitality, mental clarity, and deeper self-awareness. It works with the body’s energy systems to promote balance and resilience.

How can this practice support mental health?

Kundalini yoga can help regulate stress, improve emotional awareness, and build resilience. Practices such as breathwork and meditation can calm the nervous system and increase clarity.

Is this similar to mindfulness or meditation?

Yes, but it is more active. We bring mindful awareness into the practice of physical movement, pranayama and meditation.

Is Kundalini yoga safe?

When taught responsibly and practiced with awareness, it is safe. You are always encouraged to listen to your body, lean in the right direction to modify a posture, rest when needed, and communicate any concerns.

What does “trauma-informed” mean in your teaching?

It means your safety, autonomy, and choice are central. You are always invited but not required to participate. You can pause, modify, or rest at any time. The emphasis is on creating conditions where your nervous system can settle and where you can feel more at ease within yourself.

Why practice in a group?

Group practice can deepen motivation, provide support, and create a shared intention that enhances the experience. Group practice builds community and connection which allows people to feel like they belong, and antidotes loneliness.

What is the goal of Kundalini practice?

The goal is greater awareness, balance, and connection to yourself and to life as a whole.

Is this a spiritual practice?

It can be. While rooted in spiritual traditions, it can also be approached in a practical, secular way focused on well-being.

How does this relate to inner work or self-inquiry?

Alongside movement and breath, there is an invitation to gently notice your thoughts, emotions, and body sensations with curiosity rather than judgment. This can help bring awareness to patterns or beliefs that may be shaping your experience.
